So I taught myself to knit.. (or so I thought.. ) Heres the problem. I think I am doing it wrong.. Are you supposed to finish a row, and then move the needle from your left hand to your right hand and from your right hand to your left hand to start another row??, or are you supposed to work the stitches from your right hand needle back over to the left.. Because.. I've been working the stitches from the left hand needle to the right hand needle, then switching which hands are holding the needles..

So this is what I do..

(LHN) (RHN) ---> (RHN) (LHN)

I think I may be doing it wrong if that's not what your are supposed to do.. It's working.. It's slow though..

so.....

HHHHEEEEELLLLPPP!!!!

I've only ever crochetted before this.. So I'm new to the whole knitting thing.. Honest.. Only been doing it for a week now..

TIA from your clueless crochet moderator..

You're doing it right...I think :lol: Chalk it up to pg hormones but it has taken me 5 mins of staring at your post for it to sink in.

I am right handed. (That can make a difference) My left needle starts out w/ the stitches to be knitted. I knit them & then transfer to my right needle. (The stitches are actually being formed with the right needle.When I reach the end of the row, all the stitches are on the right needle; then I turn the needle around, and place it in my left hand. Then I'm ready to start the next row.

Does that make sense? Looks like this:

start with:
OHHHHHHHH> &<------------------O
(left needle_____&_____right needle)

OHHHHHHHH>--knitting---<HHH-------O
(left needle________________right needle)

at the end of the row
O----------------><HHHHHHHHHHHHO
(left needle_____&_____right needle)

turn so I have
OHHHHHHHH><-----------------O
(left needle_____&_____right needle)

k.. That's what I'm doing.. I have to switch which needle is in each hand so the stitches are always going left to right..so they start on my left and got to the right hand needle.. Than I turn the needle to my opposite hand and start again.. Stitches going left to right.. Good to know I'm doing it right.. My gma taught me how to crochet, and she did knit (but she died before she taught me how) but I didn't remember all the hand switching..

Thanks Gals..
