Has anyone else used yarn from Marr Haven (http://www.marrhaven.com/)? I bought some, and it is very soft, but a bit on the pilly side.

it's because it's organic merino i think. i have looked into them several times, but i think they are a little more expensive, and yes it will pill. i think they have a reviewer that stated that as well. i forget though. too much research, it's all getting mushed in my head.

I used it to knit some felted clogs last Christmas. I dunno. I wasn't crazy about it. It smelled -- a lot! And seemed a touch bulky for soakers. But it definitely was nice and soft.

Dana, yeah, I've read that review. The review basically says if you're willing to sacrafice smoothness for softness, this wool is for you.

Karen, It is bulkier than fisherman's and the LTK yarns, I think. I wasn't sure how others felt about that. :)

Did it smell even after you felted it?

No, it didn't smell as much after being felted. I don't have the clogs anymore -- I traded them for yarn because I just couldn't get them to felt down small enough.

That's interesting that it wouldn't felt enough. I wonder why.

the best wool for felting is lamb's pride, mohair/ wool blend. i have been dabbling in felting and everything i have read has recommended this brand. i bought three skeins, at our local yarn store, the other day for projects and the owner said " you must be doing some felting." so.................... if you want to felt something, give that a try :) i've made bella the cutest pair of felted booties :) i just LOVE them!!!!

So Dana, would you say Lamb's Pride is a big no no for soakers? I bought a skein because it was such a pretty color, and then I started to hear not so good things about it for soakers.

I"m making one of that yarn right now. The lamb's pride. Gorgeous. Theresa :theresa says the mohair will leave little fibers on the baby's tushie, but I'm taking a chance.

abigail, i've used it for soakers. i just don't care for it after it's knit up. it's not soft enough for me (but i'm comparing it to jess's yarn). it's actually not bad, like fishermans or bartletts. the colors are gorgeous!!! shelly's shorts i made her in yellow, orange, and red are lamb's pride :)

I think I'm going to try it and see how it turns out. Thanks for the feedback!

I tried this one. I really love the softness, even after knit up, it's EXTREMELY soft. But I tried using it while knitting shorts (the first ones I ever attempted) - BAD move, lol. I couldn't see the stitches very well because it was so pilly, so it was very hard to tell if I was fudging up. On a regular soaker, I would use this wool no problem. It's definately a mid to heavy weight wool though but that's ok, many mamas want thicker wool for heavier wetters, fishermans and such just won't do.

Nada :)
