I was just reading some of Rebecca's comments about the dolls she makes and thought I would toss out the idea that maybe after the holidays we could start a project making some dolls together....
A head start on dolls for next Christmas perhaps!
I would love to make some dolls for my kiddos and would love the wisdom from the moms here who have made them or to learn with others!
Anybody interested?? REbecca would you educate us?

Me Me Me!!!!!! I would love to learn how to make dolls. I have no idea even where to start. My daughter loves all types of baby dolls, and her favorite toy right now is her fisher price baby doll. But I would like to think that she would learn to love one that I made for her too :)

Yes, I would LOVE that! I'll help you out. And you only need to know how to sew a little, very simple, some you can even make with no sewing. It feels really good to give your kids a doll that you made special for them. :mwah

I just get so frustrated with the commercially available dolls. I look so hard to find them W/out bottles and pacifiers.....
It is funny but my 2 year old knows what a bottle is and how it is used (although I suspect she thinks booby milk is in them) but she doesn't know what a disposable diaper is---- we were at a friend's house and she had them on the counter and my dd said "What's that?" There were tears in my eyes for my former CD'ed baby!

www.weirdolls.com is a great place for supplies, patterns, pre-made items, etc. I'm making my 2 year old a 16" waldorf doll right now.

without sewing? i'm your girl! i knit my kid a bear, and i'm working on another one, and i've made countless weird balls and blocks, but never a doll...

I'm in!!! I have the pattern for the Magic Cabin Sweet Cheeks..but I think I'll buy the premade doll bodies. I do NOT sew curves well with the machine. You can get the premade bodies from joy's site..um..unless Rebecca makes them..maybe she'd make us some?? :brow

Oh, yes, I can sew up some pre-made supplies for you all...AFTER the holidays! And way less expensive than other places (I say very quietly and secretly) I would love that. My sister's pattern is very cool. A doll making doll-a-long! How fun!
Julia- I love your boobaholic sig  I've got one of those on the boob right now.

a note about weir dolls (which i love!) if you buy the "kit" you will obviously only have enough materials to make one doll)but it does NOT come with a pattern so that you can make more dolls (with additionally purchased materials) the kit come swith the doll body printed on the skin fabric.
i originally bought the kit and was bummed to find out that there was no pattern. The "pattern" that came with it was the directions for making the doll with the printed fabric and patterns for doll clothes.
sooo...if you'll want to make more than one doll, buy the actual pattern.
