I feel like this guy snow right now.

Ok so my question is this:

I am making some newborn soakers for the MDC thing, but I feel like I am making them way too small. I got some general measurements for a mama who had crocheted one, and I did my guage swatch.

But I am using the WonderSoaker pattern, and it calls for the pattern to be cast on with the same needles as the body right? Problem is I only have 12" addis in one size: 4. I was going to do the body in 9s. But I cast on my stitches and I know knitting grows, but it seems my waist will be 13" or so at rest...would this be ok? Is this too small? Should I just keep going and if it is too small give it to Elias for fun and games?

Should I just cast on with the bigger needles and magic loop the waistband? I might have to ML the whole thing. I am not sure if I can do it on 16" circs.

Ok so that is not a question is it?

Anyone have any experience with this?! Should I size up my waistband?

Thanks!!!

13" at rest is fine for a newborn! my preemie was 11 lbs 1 oz at birth and that would fit him. you're right on the money i'd say. :)

13" should be plenty big for a newborn. I would say do the waist on the 12" circs and then once you increase for the body it would probably fit on the 16" circs. If not you can either do ML for the body or use 2 circs.

!?!? An 11 pound preemie? Did you have gd or something?

My babies had a 13-14 waist at birth too, and they were huge, almost 11 pounders, but also 42 weekers.

oh, thanks, mamas! I am just going to go for it! It should fit. She said her last baby was a full term 6 lber so the next one cannot be TOO much bigger right? :LOL

Anyway, thanks mamas! It is so hard to imagine this fitting a baby even though my baby was 6 lb, 4 oz. Now at 27 lbs it is hard to imagine him that tiny. :)

Ok....I am feeling less confidant again.

I have not gone too far, maybe 10-12 rounds. The stitches fit fine on my 12" with some extra...how much will it grow? I wish I had more confidence about this. I hesitate all the time, why? Once I do something I am fine. The first time is MURDER!

I know on MDC a mama mentioned a 12" waist w/little stretch would not go over her 4 week's thighs.

Now stupidly I used yarn I never used before, and I not sure how much it will stretch. I used a stretchy cast on, as well as k2p2.

i think as long as you put a drawstring and do ribbing for the cuffs, or at least a few rows of ribbing before whatever cuff you do, you will be fine! my babie were both big, so i don't know about the little 6 lb babies. brayden was 8lbs 14 oz and gavyn was 11 lbs 1 oz. :LOL but i totally think you'll be fine! have confidence :love
