Here's what my yarn is doing...I used my ball winder to put it into a center-pull ball and now that I'm partway through my first leg and the ball is all "smushy" it's twisting! Do I need to fix this somehow? Will it hurt these pants?

THANKS!!

Thanks!! I'm knitting these for a friend of mine on another message board (she's posted just a couple times here before, too!). These are just acrylic since her little girl really has problems w/wool. I just LOVE the way these are patterning! I'm about 1/4 of the way done w/the first leg, so, hopefully I'll finish them tomorrow!

I have the same problem, but I hand wind my yarn (waiting for my yarn winder right now). I've noticed its especially bad with PF yarn?

Okay I am just trying to rely on my memory here.

I think b/c of how the ply was twists that probably when you rolled your ball you did it from the opposite end of what it was org. wound from. (I guess sort of like "going against the grain?)

I seem to recall reading something like this....I don't think it will affect the final product...will just annoy you as you knit it.

Could it be because the yarn goes round in a circle in the ball but you're not turning the ball? If you were using it from the outside of the ball you'd be rotating the ball wouldn't you? kwim?

So then you could just turn the ball round every round you knit.

I like Pam's answer too - could be that.
