I just want to celebrate because I don't know too many mothers IRL who I can celebrate with. Tristan is still nursing every 2 - 3 hours and 2 - 4 times at night (usually about 10 hours). We had his birthday party yesterday and it was a blast but I think I got asked about 10 times "He's still nursing?!" Not in a negative "OMG I can't believe that almost adult is sucking on your boob!" kinda way, but a more surprised way. But I want to have my own seperate "We reached a year with no end in sight" party. When people make comments I just tell them that I plan to work at nursing until he is 2 then it is his choice from there, and I get quite a few shocked looks.
I am also proud that breastmilk accounts for about 99% of his fluid intake. He usually gets a sippy cup or straw cup of water or water/juice mix once a week. But he really enjoys his straw cup so I am going to make an effort to always have the thing full of water for him to carry around so he can be like his friends. Nothing like baby peer-pressure, huh? LOL
Anyways, can we have a tiny online 1 year nursing celebration? I am just so glad we made it to a year and hope for at least another year. I look back at before Tristan was born and before I researched BFing, I figured I would nurse for 6 months. I didn't even think about what he would have to eat if I weaned him. Then the more I read the longer I wanted to nurse for. So.... :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana
Oh, and a quick :moon to all of the people that said 1) Just wait until he gets teeth (1b) You will stop when he gets teeth because I couldn't handle it 2) Are you going to wean him soon? 3) He's STILL nursing?! 4) He STILL wakes up at night to nurse?! 5) Your going to nurse for HOW long?!
