New pants design in the works: gansey gusset crotch and double short rows... *more pix-finished*

So I have been fooling around with this 'gansey gusset' type crotch. (google for more on what that is... a type of gusset in a sweater underarm) I made it garter stitch, and grafted it together. For the back of the pants, I did short rows at the top, just under the waistband, and my typical decreasing width short rows across the back.

Now I need to decide if it's worth writing it up as a pattern! I will have photos on the baby soon. It's a gift for a friend, local.

If I write it as a pattern, Im wondering if I should make it a customizable pattern, any yarn, any needles, etc. Or make it with canned sizes. What would you want?

uhm... so that's it, huh? WOW. I love them. I didn't think there could be a way to improve on WonderPants.. but that might be it. :nod Ditto about testers (have you noticed I'll test just about anything for you? ;) ). Wow. Wow! You've stunned me again with your creativity :pink

ETA you sort of already have the "any yarn, any size" thing down with the current WonderPants. It might be interesting to do these as a "canned" size. :chin

I think flowers or hearts would be way cute on those. Like a few heats getting bigger up the legs to knee patch size right over the knees. Then a big heart off center on the back side with 2 smaller ones as accent. OR some flowers "growing" up the legs in the front ending no higher than the knees. Or even all the way around the legs with nothing on the rump. That would be cool IMO.

Soooo my vote is flowers "growing" up the legs all the way around with nothing extra on the rump :pink

Very cute - I'll test if it's after xmas I want some for DD. Any yarn, any size gets my vote because I don't always have the same yarn as you guys (although with the dollar so weak it's actually cheaper to ship yarn from the US than buy it here at the moment :banana - so guess who keeps breaking her Dh's spending ban :goodgrief )
