...someone hijacked my ebay account! :(
i couldn't login, it said my password was invalid.. turns out someone had hijacked my account, changed the email, and listed something (I think even an item that violated ebay rules)! ebay caught them before i did, but i just had to spend an hour getting my account back. :hmph:
change your passwords often ladies! and clean your browser cookies! this stuff is for real and kinda scary! :crud:

Ugghgh!!! That totally sucks. I'm glad they caught it. Thankfully, ebay is usually pretty on the ball about that kind of stuff.

Yup, someone stole my CC number last week. They tried to charge $95 to my account but the online company realized it was fraud (a false email addy in the UK) and refunded the money the same day. But I had to cancel my card and I have to wait 2 weeks for another which is just completey inconvenient since I use my Visa check card for everything (groceries, gas, bills, etc). I also have no clue where or how they stole it because I only use secure (or so I thought) and well know sites. Like PayPal, MCI, eBay. Very scary stuff. Luckily a lot of companies are actually pretty good at checking info before they go ahead with the orders.

OMG Gena... I'm so sorry that happened to you. I know what a PITA it is to have your check card hijacked! About four years ago someone stole the number and used it to place $500 worth of gambling bets with one of those internet gambling sites that's in the islands. :crud: It took me an entire day worth of making phone calls to convince both the bank and the gambling company that I, an 18-year-old college student (and woman, I might add), was not placing $500 worth of bets! In the end, the gambling company actually believed me before the bank did and refunded my money. Then I got it straightened out with the bank and had to get a new card, etc. etc... but man, that $500 missing from my checking account wreaked big ol' havoc. And I felt SO violated. And I, too, thought I had only been using secure sites...

I used to work for a retail website. Its pretty easy to tell if someone is using a false cc#. especially in cases like Hunnybumm's. Generally, if they are using an American cc, but have a foreign address, thats a big no-no. Most websites won't process an order like that.
I've also been getting been getting lots of spoof emails that look like they are fom ebay. Probably because of the holidays...
