I'm late. By a couple weeks. I tested and it come up negative, but when I tested w/my girls the first test or 2 always came up neg. and I didn't get a postive until I was 5-6 (?) weeks pregnant.

So now I'm waiting. And waiting. I hate not knowing for sure one way or the other.

Ok, no real reason for this post other than to get it off my chest. (((sigh)))

How exciting! No matter how many times you have that maybe I could be feeling..... It's always fun. Congrats if you are.

I'm thinking about giving it one more week and testing again and seeing what happens.

I don't know if I can wait that long. LOL

Granted, this would really *not* be the right time, but I can't help dreaming a little....hmmm.....

I know! I can't help getting a little excited. Even dh is. :) I know that if I find out I'm not, I'm going to be so dissapointed. We weren't trying for one, but now that I think there might be....

How do you feel? If you're that late, you could be having some "symptoms". Usually listening to your body will give you a clue... then again, wanting to be pg can give you symptoms, too.

I third the blood test. I could not wait another week! LOL Good luck!

Are you still nursing? I didn't get a positive with this one until about four weeks.

Anywhoo, congrats if you are. Sometimes they come at funny times, but they are akways a blessing. :bighug

Yep, I'm still nursing. Even though she's 2, she still nurses a lot (anyone else have a toddler that does???).

As for symptoms, I've been super tired lately (and that's different how? LOL). But what made me wonder was more of what I'm *not* feeling. Usually about a week before I get my period my breasts hurt sooo much and it kills to nurse (tmi, I know). But I haven't had any of that, nor lower back pain, etc.

I always test negative until at least week 6 or 7. Drives me mad too! Unfortunately they dont do blood tests for pregnancy here (unless you've had IVF or something). So if you can get one, get one!

Sabrina

Ok, they won't do a blood test. They said pretty much "wait and see". So I am *still* waiting. I took another test and it still came up neg (are those cheap ones even any good???), but when I was pregnant w/Lila it took *forever* to test positive.
grrrr....I am not patient and I want to know one way or the other *now*! I can't help feeling excited, but if I'm not I want to know now before dh and I get even more excited than we already are. Kwim?

Ok, thanks for letting me vent a little. I feel better. :)

How frustrating! What do you have to do to get them to perform a blood test?

CraftyMommaOf2
11-30-2004, 06:32 PM
why won't they do a beta?

I'm sorry they won't do a test for you :( But I wanted to let you know that your kiddos are just adorable :pink

Argghh! My doc was the same way. Certain tests can pick up the hormones earlier. I think Clearblue easy and Advance (soemthing like that, I think it starts with an A) are the most sensitive. Fact Plus is the worst...Maybe try one of those?

Anyway, I hope you find out soon. I keep thinking about you :hug

OK, how desperate are you because this would be a bit naughty, but you could go into the er one evening complaining of dizziness/headach or some such and they'd be bound to give you a blood test there! Bit drastic but one way of finding out LOL. (I'm definitely the impatient type)

I couldn't wait! Of course I've had a previous ectopic pregnancy so I'm a nervous wreck! How about switching doctors or going to a pregnancy clinic? You know the ones that do free preggo testing. I dunno how they do theirs but I assume it's a blood test.

Hope you have a little one just waiting to meet you!

That's weird. When I went in to get a blood test they gave me an ultrasound instead. But then I KNEW Did you call your OBGYN or a general family doc?

Sabrina
12-01-2004, 07:43 PM
I don't have an obgyn down here yet, but I should find one anyway, so maybe now would be a good time. And I don't think they do blood tests at the clinics here, I think just a regular preg. test? I could be wrong, I've never checked, just something I heard. Maybe I should call.
Dh suggested doing the "Oh, I'm dizzy and feeling sick" thing at urgent care. Maybe I should....

pmcgary
12-01-2004, 07:57 PM
Seems to me that the doctors would want you to know ....I mean what if you do get sick or hurt? Then they have to wait around for a test before they treat...or treat as if you are pg...

I was really sick early in my second pg...landed in the ER and TOLD them I was pg...I had a positive home preg. test....Darn doc got mad cause he had to change my orders....Of course they didn't do a blood test either....just made me stay for a bag of fluids and then made me pee....(If you go into the ER and complain of chest pain and preg. they triage you pretty darned fast too.)

I was sitting here watching a movie and realized how my last post sounded. I would never go and make up symptoms to get a test, I really have been feeling that way. I've been lightheaded and I've been getting motion sickness *very* easily and often., plus being incredibly tired and worn down feeling.
And I agree, you would think they would want you to know in case something happened, but in my past experience, that doesn't always seem to be true. I think I am going to go to urgent care and see what they say.

I didn't think you would "fake" symptoms...and those you described are probably commonly experience when pg.

And I think some docs just seem not give the pg thing a second thought. The ER doc I saw acted put out that I was pg and doubted me....However another doc with my first pg was told "I might be pg" and when he asked what made me think that (I assumed beside the obvious.....no protection and no AF) When I said my test was pos. He said I was pg. (I guess false positives are pretty rare -unlike pesky falst negatives...) And he told me not to take the meds another doc had prescribed before I found out I was pg.....

It is too bad the doctors can't all be in agreement.

Say, I just remembered that my Dsis HAD to know and she went to planned parenthood when her doc wouldn't test her. I am pretty sure it was early pg and they did a blood test. (She went b/c insurance covered the test at a doc but not the home tests.) Then they had lots of laughs b/c she was at PP in her 30's, married and pg....not "planned" but not "unwanted"....very much out of the norm for their patients.

botannie
12-02-2004, 12:35 PM
Yep, planned parenthood will do a blood test. I'm not sure how much it would cost though.

If you have insurance, I would just go to Urgent Care. I did that with this pregnancy. Actually, I had a bladder infection, but I kept getting really faint positives with the home tests, so I just asked if they could do a blood test and they said sure, no problem.

I think tomorrow I'm going to call Planned Parenthood and Urgent Care to see who will do one. Tom (dh) is also getting some rec. for local obgyns also.

Still haven't started my period yet and all I seem to want to do is sleep. We can't help it, but we're getting really excited. We're already talking about maybe having to get a bigger car, etc. I know we shouldn't get our hopes up but I think it's too late.
