So last week I couldn't get any knitting done because I was learning continental and I wasn't good enough at it yet to be consistent enough in my gauge to start a "real" project. I finally got past that issue and started a soaker. The ribbing turned out beautifully, but I've made a number of erros since, so I think I'm just going to rip it out. It's only about 12 rows, but still...

(1) I didn't adjust for Ben's budda belly (see Pattern Design). We usually go coverless at home so I don't see him wear his soakers much. Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Grandma's, and I definitely need to adjust for the budda belly.

(2) I have refined my short row technique. They've always looked okay in the past, but I found out after checking out Vogue Knitting from the library yesterday that I need to change how I do them slightly. Since I haven't gone very far, I was going to rip back to my first short row.

(3) Then my gauge is off. I couldn't get anything tighter than 5 sts/in in stockinette knit flat, but now that I'm knitting in the round, I'm at 24 sts/in, which is tighter than I want (see the Yarn forum for that discussion). It's only for about an inch, which would be okay since our diapers are low in front. But if I'm going to rip 6 rows and do the short rows, I might as well rip 6 more rows and have correct gauge and adjust for Mr. Buddah Belly.

I'm using LTK yarn, and it's so beautiful I won't mind at all this opportunity to knit with it some more. In fact, I may just let this project RIP for a few days while I work on something else. It's the PROCESS of knitting, not the PRODUCT that is most important, right?

Err..sure, but it helps when your project turns out! Hang in there Tana, it took me 11 soakers till i was happy with my pattern! BTW, I really think your name is pretty. :bigups:
