Has anyone sewn their own maternity clothes? MIL bought me a Simplicity pattern for maternity cloths that don't have a panel on the pants (drives me nuts to have a panel) and I am about to make some capris, shorts and a top to start with. I only have July and Aug to get thru, but my belly is all in front and my maternity clothes are sooooo not fitting anymore :LOL Any pointers or stay away from xxx?

Thanks mamas :love

Find a pair of pants that you like and copy them. I'm famous for shopping at the mall to see how they make clothes - I can shop for hours and not purchase a single thing. When I was pregnant, what fit and felt good one month didn't the next - whether it was panel, ride below the belly, or stretch around the belly. And once you get toward the end, it's not your clothes that are making you uncomfortable, if you KWIM. So I would try using the pattern and following it exactly at first, and then once you make a pair of pants, you can make another pair with any changes you want. Use some remnant fabric if you want for your first pair (but something you'd be willing to wear if it does, in fact, turn out). You won't really know until you try.
