I mean... if ssk is the opposite of k2tog, what is the perfectly matched opposite to p2tog?

Anyone willing to swatch this and see? I'm doing p2tog, k1tbl, p2tog and on the purl side row: k1, ptbl, k1

It looks real close, but for those sticklers out there, I want to make it perfect.

Is it ssp? It might be.

Anyone willing to swatch?

I've thought about this but haven't had an opportunity to try it. However, I think you're on the right track, technically speaking. k2tog is the opposite of the ssk and k2tog tbl, so why wouldn't it be the same for p2tog?
