Okay so I don't have the Wonderpants pattern yet :bag , but I have a few ?'s about it. Do you HAVE to use magic loop to do the legs, or can you use 12" circs? I don't know how to do ML yet, and I don't have needles big enough to do them with. I just spent my $ on 12" Addis cuz I never thought I'd use anything else.
Also, how does the pattern differ from others out there? I think they look so stinkin' cute on babies, and that's why I want to try it, even though I don't have the skills (magic loop) or the supplies. Help?

You don't have to have magic loop skills to do it, but you do need the needle. The directions are good, and if you just do what they say . . . even if you don't understand why, you will be magic looping in no time. I just learned the magic loop, and it was from doing wonderpants. Besides there is always the support forum after you get the pattern :bigups:

Aha! The famous "WonderPants" are a pattern by the famous pamelamama, who incidentally also runs this forum. ;)
Here is a link to buy the pattern for your very own: http://woolywonder.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_ id=11
And examples of Pamela's work (shorts and pants are from this pattern):

Here are a pair I made for my ds:

thank you so much for the information. I can't wait to get some money to oreder the pattern for the wonderpants and the pattern for the Everlasting Wondersoaker. Both patterns are so unique and I love the way the soaker last through many sizes, what a genious pamelamama is.

How they differ from other patterns:
Okay, know that I have only knit wonder pants, pants I did by lengthening the Born 2 Love knicker soaker leg and pants from EZ's pattern in Knitter's Alamanac....
These are the key differences .....
Pamela's pants are a cargo pant. Basically that is that they have fuller legs and you can put those cool cargo pockets on the sides.
Pamela has a diamond crotch shaping that is unlike the directions for other pants- and her directions are the first that I have knit that describe how to a m1 that I had been struggling to figure out from BOOK directions.
I don't get paid for my endorsement......we just share a first name - not financial resources! :pink
And maybe you should ask santa for some 40 inch addies for the magic loop. It really is a wonderful thing....I have trouble keeping track of rows - even with some sort of counter....So, now I have pants that I know the legs are even on!!!

What are "40 inch addies" and where do I get these. I just googled it and I couldn't find any information?

my bad spelling probably got you ....Addi is a brand of knitting needle...they come in all sorts of sizes- but you need the 40 inchers to do the magic loop. (well I think smaller lengths could work for smaller covers I think they come in a 32 and 36 inch. length
Search for "Addi Turbo" or "Addi Turbos" and you should get a better idea.

Do they have to be Addi circular needles or can you use any brand of circular needles?

Any brand will do....But I don't know which of the other brands makes the longer lengths. Generally you can only find those beasts at yarn shops....the chain places don't seem to carry them....
I actually use my interchangable needles with two connectors....not ideal but it works!
