I drink this Pomegranite/cherry juice alot and had always thought it would be "the thing" to use if I ever wanted to dye anything. I'm probably going to try it tomorrow.
Anyone ever use this before? What happened? :brow

I like that juice. It's very pretty. It would make a beautiful color if it works. :thumb

Now that I'm older I hate to be the first to do something, I was hoping that someone else wouldve used it to dye yarn.
Pam- as an eye catching title I'd have to admit "porn wonderful" would definately get alot of clicks & what have YOU been up to lately? young lady ;)
LOL!

At least I'm not the only one that thought it said porn! I bought some poms to dye with and haven't. Check the ingredients for sugars. If there's not any added I think it would do great!

I thought it was porn wonderful too when I first read it!
Seems like you need some mordant besides vinegar for plant based dyes. I really have no idea though.

You guys need to get your mind out of the gutter!! LOL!!
Actually I've used Pom wonderful to dye yarn! I used the mango blend, lol. I was out of red dye and it was an emergency! It dyed it a deep reddish with a slightly brown tinge. It worked very well! The only reason I wouldn't use it on a regular basis would be because it used pretty much the whole bottle and those bottles are $$$!!

my yarn lady says sugars are no problem when dyeing. even the KA with sugar is fine but you need more of it, it's pricier, and you have th wash really well afterwards to get the sugars out.
i know you can dye with berries and they have sugar in them - i don't think the sugar alone would be a problem.
damn! why did they cancel my dyeing yarn with plants class?? :(

Why do all the yarn ladies say different things??! :LOL Everyone I've talked with says that added sugars would get gummy and could make the yarn yucky. I was wondering about your class Marnie. Grr that it was cancelled!

i used lemonade crystal light last night to make yellow (ran out of food coloring) and it worked fine. It has added sugars. well, fake ones. :LOL

Pom wonderful is 100% juice. I have to wait till I can get everyone up and out of here. My DH used the last of the vinegar on the load of didys last night. So we will add the grocery store to the list of errands to run today. Both the kids have been sick all week so I don't know if they are up for an errand day, we'll see.

*sigh* not enough people signed up. in ALL of new york city only 3 people signed up. how sad!
I bought a total of 4 pomegranates and want to use them to dye wool... I had planned on dyeing my next 8 ounce skein of Fisherman's with it. I am left with the following questions:
1. Do I need more? This seems to be pomegranate season so they're not terribly expensive so I'm willing to buy more. I'd prefer a bolder color.
2. Will the rinds add anything to the color? I've been throwing them out (I've been seeding them and freezing the seeds so I don't have rotting pomegranates on the counter - I'm bad with produce :emb ), but if I need to get more I can save the rinds.
3. Any other BTDT advice?
