I want to knit up Theresa's free hat pattern to match the longies I just made dd. On the longies I did a nice big ruffle around the bottom so I'm wondering if it would be possible to modify Theresa's pattern to have a similar ruffle at the bottom of the hat. I am guessing that I would have to cast on more stitches than the pattern calls for and decrease in towards the hat - the opposite of what I did for the longie cuffs.

So do you think it would work out? Am I on the right track? Have you ever seen anything like that before - will the ruffle look dumb?

you could always crochet the ruffle on afterwards, and if it looks dopey, take it out!

I just did big ruffles on the my last pair of wonderpants an dI knit them seperate and kitchnered them on. You could knit your ruffle and do the same using that funny cast on where you remove the yarn later. My brain isn't coming up with the name. Provisional? Uh anyway, this was my first kitchner experience and it was really easy, the hardest part was figuring out my tension.
