So, I got some acid dye and I dyed a lovely hank of FBF chocolate brown. And then I was going to dye up some variegated blues and browns when I realized I have no clue how to do that with acid dyes.
I dyed the browns in a big pot... how do you do multiple colors that you want to be variegated and not striped???

Is this what you mean by var. and not striped? If so, I dye in small sections. Like, every 3-4 inches or so. Is that even what you are asking? :LOL

you'll have a hard time over dyeing your brown, since it's so dark.
Acid dyes can be treated just like KA, only don't use your food cooking pots/dishes

No... not to overdye it...
What I mean is: I dumped the whole hank into the pot and cooked it. How do you dye and cook small sections?

Oh. I dont do mine in a pot. I put it in a dish drain (great idea, Susan) and use a spoon or small cup to pour dye onto small sections of the wool. Then, put it into a glass dish and microwave. I haven't used acid dyes yet, but have been told to do them the same way I use KA or wiltons, so I would assume this would work.
