I just finished my first knitting project and I have a fair amount of yarn left. How do I figure out exactly how much is there? I'd like to be able to use it for something else :sheep

if you know how much the original skein weighed and how many yards there were, you can figure how many yards are in each ounce, and estimate from there.
Say your skein weighed 4 ounces, and there was 200 yards in it. Each ounce was 50 yards, then. You've got 3/4 of an ounce left, you've got approximately 37.5 yards left :)

Cool. So now how do I know how much (oz. wise) I've got left? Use a small scale to weigh it? :?:

You could also measure the yardage left and do the math in reverse...
50 g at 200 yards and you have
50 yards left (200/50 = 4 or 1/4 of the yarn is left....)
50/4 = 12.5 g by wt. left
The only time I ever am glad I took Algebra is when I am working at knitting or cooking!! 8)
