We need a hugging sheep icon.

I have had this happen to me.... I am sorry it happened with you.

i feel so dumb because the same thing happened with big red.

well, not quite the same. i did dye the entire skein. however, it was so big i needed another couple of yards of another skein :crud: .

i would love a hugging sheep icon!

Oh no! You have my complete sympathy! :hug

It does, however, happen to all of us at some point or another. Or at many points... (not that that makes it happening to you better, but misery loves company, right? :crud: )

I'm sure you'll deal with it skillfully, and it'll still end up looking good!

If you don't mind I am going to share your post with DH...that has happend to me TWICE in a row  and he thinks it is only me.

See, I had this huge skein that I divided in half and dyed one half red and the other teal. So, I made a pair of longies out of the teal and get to the legs and realize oops not enough yarn. I run to LYS and they are out of the yarn, so I get a skein of cream yarn with colored flecks in it that is the same weight and finish my project. DS has a pair of longies that have a teal body and cream legs. It looks okay :? DH laughs at me :irked

Then, I think well I'll use the red have on a soaker, I should have plenty  Famous last words...I finished the crotch in cream, because LYS was still out of dyeable yarn.

In both cases I made the drawstring cream and tried to play it off as "coordinating".

So I guess this is a super long post to tell you I feel your pain and you are not alone! :)

It certainly does suck when that happens. Even if you don't get the exact same color when you dye again, it'll probably still look good. :bighug

thanks mhurst! glad to see i'm not the only one who has done this recently.

anyway, i dyed the yarn last night. it is a lot brighter! i only have a few rows left to finish the decrease, so it won't be that obvious, but i'm still disappointed. i'm going to try to make leg cuffs this time, too.
