View Full Version : Dharma Trading Dyes Anyone?

Meredith

Is there anyone who would be interested in getting some acid dyes? I was looking at these:

http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/1344-AA.shtml

And if we get the 1/2 oz bottles, we get a discount at 10. Of course, no more of a discount after that, but I would be willing to order it all and have it shipped to me, and I could send it back on out to you all.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

TIA!

oohh i am. i'm starting from scratch, so what all would i need?

Meredith

I would get some oranges, blues, greens, and reds. And purple. I can't seem to get purple at all.

Yellow.

Hmmm..... thinking here.....

I just really like these because you get a true color every time. It isn't the Kool Aid dance.

I am interested possibly. I wonder if the discount would really help all that much after we pay shipping twice though? Whaddya think?

Meredith, do you do these in the microwave like Kool Aid?

plum

i mean, is just the dye necessary? or do we have to get the soda ash and the synthrapol (sp) too?

plum

anyway, i would love some blues, reds and greens.

It would be cheaper to order them by the pound and buy extra containers and separate them out for everyone :D

A dye co-op! Yeah!

ravingcutie

Here are the price ranges on the dyes @ the larger amounts. Note: the breakdown price is per 1oz (not 1/2 oz). It's much cheaper! I'd coordinate a coop w/ larger amounts if knitwitzmama doesn't want to. It would be a bit more $$ due to repackaging & shipping.

These represent the least & most expensive dyes. The average is of the highest & lowest priced dyes - probably closer to what you could expect to pay.
8 oz.

$5.95 - $.75 per oz.
$22.95 - $2.86 per oz.

Average = $1.80

16 oz.

$11.31 - $.71
$43.61 - $2.72

Average = $1.72

Don't forget the containers, .49 each for 4 oz containers I believe.

I don't need dyes b/c I just ordered last week what I was out of LOL

Anyone still interested in a dye coop?

Meredith

I am interested, but I won't be around much during the coming weekend because we are going out of town. What do you all want to do? The larger ones, and then divide the dye up, or the smaller ones?

I'll join in. my 2 cents: the small pots allow everyone to order which colors they want rather than having to all agree on a few colors. and no one has to take on the job of separating into small containers, which i imagine to be a messy job. keep in mind that i live in an apartment and i don't have space to make a mess nor the space to store things, so i'm used to paying a bit more for convenience.

I like the small pots idea, too... I would rather not have to worry about doing it or someone having to do it for me as opposed to me getting these colors and they are already taken care of and measured out.

hey, you gals might want to check out http://www.earthguild.com, their prices are usually lower than dharma's on dyes, AND shipping is cheaper with them :)

ravingcutie

It is cheaper for the smaller amounts. What do you gals want to do?

Meredith

I am up for anything, really.

ravingcutie

I really don't care either. If we were going to try for buying larger amounts & splitting, I'd say stick w/ Dharma, but since we're going w/ the smaller size, maybe we should go with the cheaper distributor.

ravingcutie
07-09-2004, 10:19 AM
Ok, me again. Why don't we stick with the Dharma, since we have all our preferences posted. We can try EarthGuild next time.

Should we set an end date for this co-op, so we can recieve our dye in a timely manner?

Meredith
07-09-2004, 10:22 AM
That is fine with me.

I will be out next week due to jury duty and posting charity auctions and also trying to get work done in there.... so does someone feel comfortable doing it... that is if you want to do it next week....

If you want it to end the following week, I can do it then.

Katie... that would be WAY awesome of you!!!

Do we want to have next Wed as the cut off date, or Monday? I am flexible... I will have to see how my flow is, actually to see if I can get in on it or not.

Plum, just get me your actual color selections to be ordered before Wed. I'll place the order on Wed., and figure out the shipping from there. Oh, & let me know how you want it shipped to you. Then I'll figure up your total.

We'll split the shipping evenly on the initial order & you pay actual shipping cost to you. Sound good?

Ladies,
We're almost ready to order! There are a few colors that we have multiples of, that you can get several oz.s for close to the 1/2 oz price. They are:

Pumpkin Orange:
$3.93 per 2.6 oz (4 times as much!) plus 50 cents for the container.

Periwinkle:
$4.60 per 2.6 oz, plus 50 cents

Oh, and if anyone wants some Salmon, I'm getting the bigger size. It's $.75 per oz, plus $.50 for the container.

I think I'm going to order the bigger sizes of these colors, as I want them. If it's a problem regarding the extra cost, I will either mail it to you in a ziplock, or work the
Let me know your preference, and I'll give you the info for Paypal.
