I'm toying with the idea of making soaker pant/leggings for wearing under clothes. Basically just extending a rolled cuff for the length of the leg. My girls aren't walking yet, and the other pants patterns we've tried don't give much coverage in the wetzone. However, i'm sure they'll look stupid, when they're not on a baby. What would you do?

I'd like to be able to use the pattern for customs in my store too, but don't want to be labeled as having "stupid pants"! lol

I have no clue what you are talking about. Can you elaborate on this idea? :nut :nut :nut :nut :nut :nut Am I just tired and it's totally obvious? It sounds to me like you want to make pants with the legs twice as long as they should be and cuff them up to the crotch?

Do you mean like the babyology longies but knit instead of sewn? I don't think that would look stupid at all!
Only problem for me would be what thickness of yarn to use. For the body you would want something bulky but on the legs a thinner yarn would look better I think. Maybe a doubleknitbody and normal knit legs?! Just thinking along....

This is exactly why I knit my DD tights btw.

Der...Now I get it! You mean make a soaker and extend the legs. I hope that's not stupid because that's what I'm doing right now!

Sorry for being a certified fruity tootie loony before.

so like ahh...longjohns type of thing. Sounds great. I say knit the legs of thinner yarn like tights, like Yvon was doing.

Sounds cool! And Babyology seems to sell quite a bit, so I don't think them looking weird will make a difference. I think the hyenas with little girls esp would be all over them. Heck the ones with sons in cold places! Anyways...sounds like a good idea. :pink

i have a combo "pattern" i make for maya for wool pants to go under dresses. i don't use a thinner yarn for legs (good idea, though!) because i don't mind the ragamuffin 40 million layers of clothing look! but i do make them more legging-like and less pants-like.

i think a soaker with long legs is a good idea and i just may steal it from you for miss maya!

Steal away. When I get through the miles of knitting that have for customers and swap right now, I'll give 'em a whirl and try to get a few up on my site or at least out for testing. My girlies need some pants! ha!
