I am making my attempt for a second hat :dance

I am ready to decrease but having some trouble reading or understanding the patterm.

Round 1: *k 13, ktog (together), repeat from * 84 sts
Round 2: k
Round 3: *k12, ktog (together), repeat from * 78
and it continues down like this for 6 rounds.

So I think I have this part down: Round 1 I knit 13 stitches then knit two together.....
After that I am a bit confused with what repeat from * 84 sts means. My total round stitches to start with are 90 before I start decreasing.

:faint

Round 1: *k 13, ktog (together), repeat from * 84 sts
Round 2: k

"repeat from *" means do what comes after the * again, and since it doesn't say how many times, just do it until the end of the round. So you'll k 13, ktog, k 13, ktog, k 13, ktog... UNTIL...

... at the end of the round, where you'll have (or should have) 84 stitches! Aren't they helpful to give you that guide, so you can be sure you did it right? (Except, of course, for those patterns with typos or non-mathematical writers where it's WRONG, and then it just drives ya batty for the next, oh, several years!!! - not that that's ever happened to me...)

Hope that helps!

Don't knock the pattern writers. Often it is book and magazine editors who know nothing about knitting who "simplify" the directions and make things confusion.

I remember reading that the reason Elizabeth Zimmerman started her own publishing co. for her stuff is b/c she didn't like the way her patterns got edited.

Awww sorry my intention was not in anyway to knock pattern writers ;)

This is my second knitting project/ pattern that I have worked from.

And I had to ask for help before ripping my hat out all over again.
