OK, so I dutifully knit 3 mock circular guage swatches prior to beginning this project and SWEAR that I got correct stitch and row guage with the yarn/needle combo I am using to complete the project. :violin NOW as I am putting the sleeves on the body of the sweater, the sleeves are WAAAAY too long for the body. The sleeves were knit circular, casting on at the cuff. Can I frog it from the cast on edge to shorten it to the length I need?

:cuss :rant :mur

Hmm... Not very helpful at the moment, I know, but all I can think of is that this is why most knitters don't pay attention to row guage, and just go by row measurement, not count.

Sorry, Jessica! Hope someone else can be more help. :hug

My row gauge is never on, but my stitch gauge is on 95% of the time. So I just measure. That's probably why patterns usually just say inches instead of number of rows. The last sweater I did described all the increases (X every X rows for X times) and then said to knit until X length - I didn't have to knit any more after I finished the increases because I was already to X length.

Well, this one specifies knit X rows, increase row, knit X rows, etc for a specific # of rows. No end measurement for the sleeve is given (though I should have just put it against one of dd's sweaters to check). :goodgrief

I'm not afraid to try to frog from the CO, I'm just not sure how to re-bind off when I get to the length I need. I can always add a frou-frou yarn at the cuff and hem to hide any ugliness, right? :idea
