my wholes ite (including email addys) was DELTED from teh server when the server crashed

UGH!! (Yes, I know this isn't knitting related per say, but I am in the black pits of hell right now)

MY WHOLE SITE was deleted from the server when it went down. My email accounts were delted, so anyone who tried to email me between friday and about 5 minutes ago, your email is lost somwhere in the great beyond of the cyber world.

and the kicker is, the forums were delted, and I don't have backups of those becuase they aren't static, there were server backups done once a week I think, but I think those are gone, which means (once again!) I have to rebuild the whole forum

Sometimes you can find software that will recover some of the lost information.

Dh just lost a whole bunch of stuff off his computer when he tried removing a partition, and just last night he found some software that could recover the bulk of it... I'll ask him more about it if you're interested...

Well, I'm fortunate that I use dreamweaver for my site design, so I've got backups of every page and all the images on my harddrive. But the forums are pretty much kaput. so, I'll have to reinstall and jsut rebuild. again. I can't even blame it on ethan this time, LOL (i fy'all remember, he delted the databases a few months ago, by accident.) oh, well, guess it just means I'll get to have fun designing the forums, LOL!

Now, should I reinstall phpbb (fully modded, like the old forums,and like pam has here) or should I do invisionboard? decisions, decisions...

Ahhh! Theresa! So sorry to hear that mama. Computers can be so frustrating; you put so much work into something that can be eaten overnight.

Oh mama - I am SO SORRY! I can totally relate. We are backup freaks here now after a few near disasters. We had our forums running on a server in Dallas and it crashed. Since we are in FL, there was nothing we could do to fix it, so we had to wait for the stupid hosting people. Well we learned a BIG lesson there! We were told that ALL the drives were corrupted (RAID set up with back ups on other drives) and we were going to lose everything. In the end we didn't - which is good because the forums are HUGE and I think I might have had a heart attack!!

PLEASE let me know if I can do anything at all to help!! You have a great attitude about the forums, so that will make a huge difference for you. :) Hugs mama!
