View Full Version : Bleached unbleached CPFs - rant

My hubby and I went away for 2 days, leaving one son with each grandma for a much needed get away. My MIL kept my almost 7mth old. Anyway, my son has to use his cloth or he gets a rash... otherwise I would have left her sposies. My MIL offered to wash up the dipes she used. No biggie. She's helped me with the laundry here when my older son had his eye accident, so I figured I'd repeated myself enough... little detergent, no bleach, no fabric softener. I now have several UBCPFs that smell like bleach/appear whiter or white. :splat :cuss
I don't know why this is upsetting me so much, but I am just sooo irritated. I look at them and almost want to cry (psychiatric help maybe:lol:) I don't think I can say anything to her, she's pretty sensitive and I wouldn't want to hurt the relationship. I try to keep things in perspective, I'm sure in her day you always bleached them. :emb
Please, help me get over it. Do I need to do anything special with my now bleached ones??
**sigh**

I just had a thought... it's not all of them, just some... I wonder if she uses those bleach tabs in the toilet?? :goodgrief :chin

:hug You don't have to do anything different with them, but I'd wash them and do rinses until the smell was gone. Poor ubcpfs!

Yeah, I just realized what the stink was in here. When my son peed, the room smelled like bleach.... :cry
If it burns my nose, imagine his bum :( :(

Oh no!! Poor lil bum. But, poor mama too! It's so sad when a dipe is mistreated like that. :LOL I loath bleach and never use it. Way too harsh. I clean with a tto cleaner that I make. Maybe give him some naked time in case it hurts. :hug for both of you.

Did she think they were dingy and supposed to be white? cuz I have had rude comments before from mostly old women that I wasn't getting my dipes clean enough. And when I said they were unbleached and therefore easier on sensitive baby skin they usually say something like "Well you have to bleach them to get rid of germs."

I don't know :( We've talked about it... One of my fleece liners smells life fabric softener... I dunno if she tossed some in with her regular laundry. At least it's a cheap-o liner and she left my wonderoos untouched cause she doesn't like them.
There's something wrong with me, one should not feel like crying over a diaper

I would totally feel like that. My diapers are special. I don't care if they're plain old prefolds.
I think you should dye them colors!!! That way you will celebrate what once was a loss. Then they'll be super special.
I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

My DH prefers prefolds/bummis wraps to the Wonderoos :faint
I don't get it, really, I don't. When I'm out and when it's middle of the night, nothing is easier than a wonderoo!!

I was at my mom's once and she washed some diaper covers for me. I forgot to mention not using softener until it was "too late" They weren't real expensive covers so I wasn't too upset at the "lose" But a coupld of washings and they were as good as new.
