After I get finishedwith christmas presents, I need to start presents for The children at the new years party we attend. There is five boys age 14-11 who I think are getting knitted balls either filled with something or felted. The problem is the girls. They are 8 and 10. I could give them balls too. But I was thinking some sort of animal?
I cannot for the life of find a doll/animal pattern that I like.
Does anyone know of any?
Or do you have any other suggestions??
Do you think this is a dumb idea?
Will the boys like the balls?
Thanks a bunch.

If you are looking for knitted animals, definitely check out "World of knitted toys" (a book) It has some seriously great patterns. For girls in that age range, anything "cute" would work.

I got this book yesterday at the bookstore:
Knitted Toys: 21 Easy-to-Knit Patterns for Irresistible Soft Toys
by Fiona McTague

It is very cute, there are patterns to make dolls, animals, little bugs, etc. - there's lots of stuff for that age range, IMO. :)
ETA I think the boys will like the balls. they can always play hackysack with them. And they'll probably enjoy throwing them at each other. :moon

why not do cute felted purses for the girls? Soemthing with bright stripes, and at teh top knit in some eyelash yarn along with teh wool then felt the whoel thing. I did a few for Dh's cousins in the kid's pollyanna last year and they were HUGE hits!

ooo great Idea Theresa! Why didn't I think of that? Purses are so easy too! I have a question though, if you make a button hole with a yo what would happen to it when it felts?
