I was recently given 5 prefolds made from bamboo terry. And they are SO SOFT and pretty. I'm considering ordering the fabric by the yard and trying to make my own fitted dipes using the Poo Pocket pattern.

Has anyone else had any experience with bamboo? Is it durable? Have you sewn with it? What's your opinion of it? It is worth it or should I not even bother?

Thanks
Angela

I love it personally. I haven't tried a ton of fabrics but bamboo is my favorite.
The bamboo velour is heavenly as is the fleece.

According To Judith Mackenzie Mccuin Who Has Over 50 Years Experience In The Fiber Knitting Spinning World, The Fiber Is Insanely Flammable. She Also Says She Almost Lit Her Artist Studio On Fire Because Of Bamboo Fibers.

She Advises Against Using Any Kind Of Bamboo Fiber On Your Bed, Curtains Clothing Etc.

She Says The Fiber Comes From China And There Have No Standards On Flammability And That There Is No Human Way To Make The Fiber Not Flammable.

If I Was You I'd Get Rid Of All Bamboo Fiber/yarn/cloth In Your House.

We use it at MudpieBabies when requested. We use bamboo velour. We have had good results and bad results with it. It is wonderfully soft to begin with but we have had some turn hard and crunchy after multiple washings.

Kind of an old post but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. I love bamboo fleece. I use lots of bamboo/cotton fleece for diapers as well as wipes. It's silky soft and stays soft.
