Or should I give up and use the lesser substitutes :faint

I would, but that's just me :) My boys can't wear sposies or they break out.

Depends on whether or not you can get them washed when you get done with the 30 hours. Is that 30 hours round trip or one way?
I have done them on 15 hour car trips. But was always staying with family who freely allowed me to invade their laundry room.

It's 30 hours each way and we'll be in a hotel for three days. :crud: I wouldn't hesitate with one kid, but two really adds up to a lot of diapers. We take our cloth dipes when we fly to Miami from Oregon, but we stay with family so it isn't a big deal. My little man is so sensitive though and has never used a disposable so I am afraid to even try. :faint

Well, you could line a sposie with microfleece so it doesn't touch him. Just make a bunch of liners and that way you won't have a whole bunch of laundry.

I know some hotels have coin operated washers and dryers ---maybe that is an option too...
How old are the kidlets in diapers?

They are almost 6 months and two. That fleece topper idea is fab! Thank you :pink

I'll probaly get lynched for this... :yikes
I would use disposables. When we travel without easy access to machines I use 7th Generation disposables. They're less chemically, and not stinky like some others I've used.

I would also use the 7th gen disposables...without hesitation, but thats just me. The last thing I wanna worry about on a 30 hour train is diapers.

I voted for cloth. We have driven from NC to KS (about 27 hours with nursing / gas / pee breaks) and used cloth with no problems. However we were staying with family so we just kept all the dirty diapers in the trunk until we got there. You could call ahead to the hotel and make sure they have coin laudry machines, if not then go with sposies. You don't want to spend time searching for a laundry mat. But I would think it would be relativly easy for the train ride part of it. You would have a "home base" so to say compared to being in an airport where you have to lug your stuff around with you for the full 30 hours.

You could also combine cloth and sposies. I know for awhile when I had two in diapers there were days at home and about town where it was just too much for me to manage. Since my oldest was over 2 he didn't wet nearly as often ---b/c money was tight, he was the one in sposies "sometimes".
If you can get your hands on a copy of DIaper Changes I believe they have a section on cloth and travel (they recommend quick drying gauze diaper weave - packs smaller and less drying time to consider in A- doing the laundry and B- number of diapers that need to be packe.

since you are staying in a hotel I would go with spoises, I would hate to spend any of my vacation in a hotel laundry room!
Now if you were staying with family I would say cloth all the way.
Just my :two
Good luck and have a good trip!

If it were me, I'd buy a package of sposies at Walmart and look back with no guilt. Try one on before you go to see if he gets a rash or anything if you want, or just be ready to stop at walmart and snag some fleece if he does.
My youngest was put in sposies when my oldest had his eye accident. After a couple days he got a rash, so cloth it is. I'd try though.

I would do the sposies too - line them with some cheap fleece if necessary. Don't feel at all badly about it either - that's what they're intended for.
