Opinion?

Hey All,

Well, after my last post about the shawl, I am wondering, what do you all think? I've done the first 45 rows of the shawl (which I totally love this shawl and have loved it every time I've started it...just never gotten much past row 100, I think)...Now do you guys think this colorway works w/this pattern? In looking at it IRL, I couldn't see the diamonds much, but in the pic I totally can...so I'm torn. What do you all think?

The color way is something I dyed. I made a shawl for my mom (Forest Canopy) out of some Schaefer Anne that was Tan/Gray/Cream thinking it would go with everything and she'd like it. Well, I gave it to her for her birthday and she was...well....less than enthusiastic over the shawl (she about did a cartwheel over receiving the Turbo Blender and the shawl I got a very flat "oh, thanks" :rant ) Now..I loved that shawl. It went with EVERYTHING! It is never a colorway I would pick up normally 'cause the colors are blah...anyway...how does the color way work w/this shawl...

I think the way the color giving horizontal stripes takes away from the diamond shapes, but wait for others opinions - don't just take mine.

Totally here you on people being ungrateful for gifts - I've given up making so much effort - save it for people who appreciate it!

I think you should go get the shawl back from you mother...

And if you aren't 100% loving how this current one is knitting up...I would frog it b/c maybe it wants to be something else.......

sigh...I've kept knitting in hopes that it would look better...not yet...sigh...

Any opinions as to what shawl I could do with this? Maybe Charlotte's Web?

yeah, the stripes aren't doing much for me, not witht he diamonds at least (of course, the striping will change when the shawl gets wider)

I'm another vote for getting the shawl back from your mum!

I think it will look nice once you get to the wider part, but I'm not sure it's worth the work to find out you still don't like it! Maybe this one works better with a semi-solid or solid yarn?

I couldn't see the diamonds on first look either.

The stripes are definitely detracting from the pattern.

I'm thinking it would look much better in a solid color.
