knitting software

Anybody try using any knitting design software? I'm wondering what their limitations are and how experimental you can get with it. Any recommendations?

Me!! I have DesignAKnit. I think it's really the only major software package out there. It can be connected to virtually all of the downloadable knitting machines. I love it! It takes so much of the guess work out of color/pattern designs, as well as designing my own original shapes. All that said, they do serve a very, very specialized market, and so there are a lot of annoyances in the package that one just learns to live with. Oh, and it was expensive too - on the order of $500 I think...
