I knit like I cook: only with a pattern (or recipe). please don't ask me to completely go it alone.

My brother lives in NY (Queens) and has to walk to a train and to the office and has said that if he had a scarf he'd wear it. His "style" is black, pretty minimal. He's a computer geek. I'd like it to be reasonably warm. I'd consider making him a hat to wear with, but I fear the poor guy would have to deal with winter hat head.

Thanks!

What are you hoping for? Something totally plain or with a pattern or what? What fiber did you have in mind?

Seaman's scarves for Matthew (http://www.knitting-and.com/knitting/patterns/scarves/matthewshepard.htm) are beautiful, and quite manly. The back neck part is nice for fitting under a coat so it lays well, and I think in a nice charcoal wool it would be perfect for a city guy.

Disclaimer: Just have tissues ready before you click the link, I warn you!!!

Did you see that DNA scarf?

I think I could handle the "Matt" one of these. Now to find some appropriate yarn. :)

Thanks!

That DNA one is beyond me right now. Slow knitting and purling.... nothing complicated yet.
