I am starting the process of dyeing my first skein of non LB fishermans wool and I can't freaking get it wet!!! It repels water so well that after letting it up from under the water I can literally see the water sheeting off of it. It is "soaking" now with spoons holding it in the water but it isn't working. HELP!!! Do I just need to be patient or is there something I can do to get this yarn wet?
Thanks :mwah

Did you wash the wool or soak it in water with soap and vinegar first? That should strip the lanolin out of it and make it work better.

Thanks :mwah I ended up getting it wet by squeezing it under the water. Bubbles came up and each time I did this the wool was a little wetter. It took a while but worked. I have part of the skein in pink lemonade now :pink

I can't wait to see what color you end up with. Anyone who has been around here awhile knows I can't get pink for anything...either rose color or peach but no true pink for me. I finally gave it up.

Have you tried pink lemonade and LOTS of it?? This is my second time using this color on 2 different wools and it is a very nice pink on both of them. The skein is now in the blue and I am waiting for it to come down to handling temp. I will post a pic when I am done :pink Hopefully it won't be ugly  That would be my luck, I promise a pic and it turns out awful. :idea

I think I have tried just about everything imaginable. I think I could get a soft pink but I wanted a more intense pink....I use LB fisherman's and seem to have trouble with "yellow" undertones in both the red and blue....I can get great corals and blue/greens.....

Use more pink lemonade :nod The pink half of the last skein of fishermans I did has about 12 packets of pink lemonade in it and the dye bath was completely exausted afterwards. The blue half only has 4 packets, and the blue "half" ended up being bigger (I dyed that end first  ) It looks sort of bland until there are enough packets in there, or at least it does to me. Sooooo if you are up to trying again and haven't tried using LOTS you might give it another try.

I've gotten bright-ass pink with lionbrand and fishermans. I love it!

I love the term "bright-ass"! Reminds me of a neon pink firefly.
E because NEON became NEOB, not quite the same thing, really.
