I decided that knucks would be my first DPN attempt and I've "successfully" knit my first finger, but my cast on edge is flared. I don't mind it terribly for the thumb, but I'd rather not on the fingers. I'm not sure if it's the yarn, the cast-on I used, or my tension, so I figured I'd ask if there was a cast-on you recommended. I usually do long-tail, know cable, and tried knitting on for the thumb.
Suggestions?

I used long-tail and like it just fine.

I used long tail too. They flare a little bit, but it doesn't bug me.

I used long tail and followed the directions for working in the ends ... I wonder if that's related to your edges flaring a bit. Just a thought.
Also, I tried working the first couple of rows in ribbing, and just FYI I wouldn't recommend it. Too poofy.
