View Full Version : Beyond confused...
Ok so I am starting a new pair of the WonderPants...
But this is a general question too :D
I have to cast on 80 stitches right? Ok, done. But when I start to k2, p2 I end up with a k2 at the end of a round...which means I have k4 in one place. Making sense?
I THOUGHT I did another pair of pants with an 80 cast on but I am guessing it is 78?!!?
Because knitting logic escapes me....
1/2-k
3/4-p
5/6-k
7/8-p
9/0-k
times 4 means I am knitting 2 at the end when I need to be purling. I am ending in knitting not purling....Correct?
How do I fix this? Go for 78?
Where is Pamela with the logic?!? :D 80 is divisible by 4 but does this mean anything?
I should sleep. I am majorly confused now...
your round should end w/ a p2, not a k2.
Look at your set in 4s instead:
1/2 - k
3/4 - p
now repeat that instead.
On yours, it needs to be either 8 or 12 stitches since 4 doesn't go into 10. If you continued yours it would be:
1/2-k
3/4-p
5/6-k
7/8-p
9/0-k
11/12-p
13/14-k
15/16-p
17/18-k
19/20-p
Do you see? The stitch that is divisible by 4 will be a purl.
Anwyn is getting into something; I'll be back later.
I know it SHOULD end in p2...but why it is not is what is confusing me?!
So 80 will not work for a k2,p2 ribbing. I have counted my stitches 1000 times and am still coming up with 80.
80 is divisible by 4, but I have a knit there. And 82 is divisible by 4...I need a Knitting Logic 101. :D
I should have modified the pattern and done 78 or 82?
THANKS!!!!!

76 is divisible by 4, 80 is divisible by 4, 84 is divisible by 4 - 78 and 82 are NOT divisible by 4. I think you do need some sleep. :)

No, 80 is right for a k2p2. WIth a k2p2 ribbing, you need a multiple of four. If you are not ending up with the last two stitches as p2 there are a cople of reasons why.
1. you messed up somewhere and there is a k2 or p2 missing
2. you cast on the wrong number of stitches.
WHich is it Melissa!!

Wel....I swear I am counting 80, and I swear I checked by k2 and p2. But I HAD to mess up. Good thing I am bout 4 rows into before I held of... :pezfrog ing it and starting over.
I was beginning to think I was crazy! :D And apparently I am am somehow. Oh well I will start over and try to find out where I went wrong. :LOL
Thanks. I just needed to make sure 80 worked for it to be sure I was wrong somehow!!!

Usually when things don't work out for me, it's because I've actually mis counted. I've mis-counted 3 times in a row when I was overly tired.
