I tried to do a simple chain for a pair of longies I just finished and it was TERRIBLE!!! I used a 10.5/6.5mm hook (the only one I have ;) ). I'd really like to learn how to do this because my knitted I-cord is just taking way too long for something as simple as a drawstring. So any chance that my hook was just too big?

I use an f or g hook. that is about the extent of my knowledge of hooks.

Okay, you can see how much I DON'T know about crocheting :bag I didn't even see the letter on my hook, just the numbers. So I think mine is a K - guess that's too big, huh?

It depends on whether I am using one or two strands for the waist band.. I never use bigger than an H hook even with 2 strands.. I usually use F hooks..
