!!@*&@!! This is the second time this has happened and I just igured out why. I usually use Fishermans which id one long skein nd for pants thats all I use, one skein. Well I just dyed up two skeins of LTK with the same dye batch for the same length of time and one skein is slightly darker than the other. This has resulted in one leg being lighter than the other, GRRR. Thank goodness the pants are for my dd and not someone else. I am so upset right now, UGH! Any tips on how to avoid this in the future??

Totally serious here: buy predyed yarn. I haven't found a way to avoid this.
I do keep really detailed notes on how I dye things, but variations happen. Varigated and kettled dyed are my favorites - then it doesn't matter.
You can blend your differences by working with both skeins at once - just alternate which ball you work with each row.

LOL! Thank goodness these are for us! They are my first pair of Wonderpants so I am hoping the pockets will take away from the slight color difference.

Maybe you can make it a "design feature" by knitting the pockets in the two shades and swapping them (darker pocket on lighter leg and vice versa)?

Does it make you feel any better than I have the same problem. I noticed the when I got about 3 inches on the legs done. I split one of the balls in half and am using the same on both legs now. I can't tell yet how odd it will look. I am also hoping the pocket will help hide the differences. Like you said, at least it's for my own baby.
What I learned was to listen to Pam when she suggests splitting your ball of yarn in half when you start the legs. I refuse to :pezfrog it though so I will be happy with it as is.
