So do we want to use the points function??

I've seen a couple of people ask what the "points" are for and I understand that it is a function that we simply don't use.

So, I got to thinking.... :chin Do we want to "use" the points?? I thought it might be fun to come up with some sort of game type thing that goes along with points. Assign different things to different point values like -

- try a new technique
-buy yourself a new notion
-knit something for charity
-try a new pattern
-teach a friend to knit
-buy yourself that knitting something you've had your eye on
-try a new yarn
-etc, etc, etc

Just a thought!! Any feedback?

Well I just know that at the top of my screen it tell me how many points I have ??? I didn't mean to make anything too technical, just kind of maybe we brainstorm some ideas, decide that 5 points is this, 10 points is that, 25 points is this, etc. Maybe make it a sticky and then we just self moderate it for fun. And of course tell each other about what new technique we're doing or pattern we're trying or whatever.

I like this idea - we could just make ourselves feel good and perhaps pass points to others if we think they deserve them i.e. when someone posts a picture of a cute soaker they just finished or has another baby etc.

I'm not sure how to pass points on to someone else though....It seems that points are a function of posts and replies and just automatically tallies them.

yeah how do you get points? what are they for with this type of board? I know there was another thread about it but im too tired to look it up, LOL

We used to accumulate points faster - when the option was turned on. It was like a point a post. But now that it's turned off, I still accumulate them, only super slowly!

Maybe we should invent cool titles that are awarded by how many points you've earned.
