twice in the last week I've broken a 2.25mm Brittany dpn.

I contacted them and they are sending me replacements but I think its just time for another needle for these socks. Its a lacy pattern and I feel I need to pull tight to get a good look.

Where can I get metal DPNs? I know I can get a set locally from Joanns but they come in sets of 4 instead of 5 (which is my preference). Our two LYS both only carry wood DPNs that small.

Bah. It took them about 6 weeks to mail my replacements to me, too, so it's not like you'll have it really soon.

I hate metal. I just keep getting more wood. You might want to try crystal palace. I haven't had any of their dpns snap on me yet.

I have a set of Crystal Palace but I don't like how they feel. They feel rough to me.

How about knitpicks metal dpns? They just came out with more sizes for socks - there are two different size 1s and two different size 2s (that correspond to the metric sizes).

ETA: I've also heard good things about Lantern Moon sox stix. They come in a cute organza bag. These are wooden dpns, but much more expensive than the knitpicks.

I know ladydemetreis has sox stix. Ask her how she likes them.

Yep, I do, I now own 4 out of the 5 they came in, my 2 year old decided to through it on the floor and go stomping one day, :( besides all that, they were great for me. When I need to use needle size 1 or 0 however, I have purchased the KP dpns and they are really a better option for me cause, my sz. 1 BB's were seriously starting to stress as in break,( they would have, but I was going so carefully, as not to break) all in all, I'd say your best bet for that size in needles is going with KP.

Side note; sometimes when I want a nice firm ribbing, I will use my KP's, then switch to the LM or now my Pony Pearls :) You just have to fimble a bit, but you'll come to find a system that works for you, ;)

I got some cheap Joann's ones tonight so I can finish my socks. I'll see if I can add on the KP needles to my pending order.
