I need advice!

I went to an alpaca farm today and was going to buy some fiber, but found out that they only sold the whole fleece at one time ($70 worth of alpaca fiber!) so I didn't buy anything. So my modest fiber budget is now burning a hole in my pocket and i want to buy somrthing to spin. But I'm a total noobie and I'd love some suggestions.

I love wool, it is my favorite fiber to knit with. I'm so new to spinning that I'm practically clueless. I enjoy dyeing my own yarn, and I think I'd like dyeing fiber too, but if it is dyed already that's okay too.

What is soft, fun to spin (easy to draft evenly?), not too expensive....

I've looked at ebay, handpainted yarn, halcyon yarn, and some other places, and there are so many choices I'm just overwhelmed. I was thinking about BFL.

I've heard that Corriedale is a good starter fiber.
I am learning to drop spindle with Targhee soon.
I think that I've heard BFL would be good to start with also ;) I love BFL really all fiber, yarn, etc.

I second the BFL notion, I love spinning BFL, it practically spins itself and is so easy to draft out. Merino can be a bit more dificult. I have also heard that corrie is easy to spin too.
