Okay, so I spent WAY more than I should have yesterday, but I got all kinds of goodies.
I got the Denise interchangable needles LOCALLY which was awsome. I made my test swatch last night and I like them. I'm not in love with them yet, but I like them. They are too quiet so when I knit I don't get that little "click" when the stitch falls between the needles and I can bring it through if that makes sense but I'll get use to it. I just got tired of never having the needle size I needed to start a project and it was always on a sunday or monday when the lys was closed go figure. $45 well spent I think
Next, I got 6 hanks of yarn.
plymouth galway which seemed soft enough and was pretty cheap at about $5.50.. I got the natural in hopes of dying it, but now I read that some think it doesn't wear well?? I havne't opened these yet, so of someone has a bad experience, please let me know now so I can take it back and exchange it.
Then, I got some waterspun classic elite felted merino which seems awsome so far. It's like you can find at elann.com It's very very soft but I hope it holds it's shape well. it's already into balls in very pretty merlot and royal blue colors, so there's no turing back now. I didn't get enough to make pants though, so I'll have to figure out what else to make.. maybe hats?
Then, and this is the one I need real opinions on and can't find any.. I found these great big hanks of natrual undyed wool from brownsheepco It seems like really nice wool.. it's very soft but it's not the "lambs pride" It just had a tiny little tag that said "brownsheepco 100% wool" I don't like the lambs pride stuff but the way it's spun looks more like acrylic if you know what I mean.. and this doesn't.. it looks very "natural" if that makes sense.. I dont' know anything about yarn making though. I'm guessing it's the "top of the lamb" worsted weight. Has anyone used this? I'm always nervous putting so much work and time and money into something not knowing if it'll hold up so any experience is much appreciated.
Anyway! I had such fun and want to go back, but it was a weavers shop too and they had lots of .. well.. dangerous stuff there for a toddler to get into so it makes it too hard to browse if I have to take my dd with me so I'll have to find a time when my dh can keep her. They had addis and clover too! A good shop.. very good. The other one only has susan bates and their entire extent of wool is cascade (which I like, but it gets boring)
