Pamelamama- the pattern author and lead class instructor has returned to full time work outside the home...So I think she is super busy...
She is a teacher so she may have a bit of time this summer, but I don't know what she might take on this summer ....

Ok - thank you Pam!
I'm still learning who everyone is.
the only local place we have for classes is Michael's and they're not doing any knitting for a while!
I think I may go to the library and use knittinghelp.com

Post in the main forum for some suggestions on where people learned to knit...or what books helped them learn. Then you will get a few reviews. (my mom taught me years ago. When I get stumped I can't call her anymore b/c my skills are beyond hers- I use knittinghelp.com)
Also check and see if there is a knitter's guild in your area..I bet if there is you could go to the meeting to get some help. And sometimes Local Yarn Shops (LYS) are 'hidden' from those who aren't in the know..so you might find one of those. Most of them will help a beginning knitter who makes purchases from them. (and a skein of yarn and a pair of needles are probably less than what a class would cost ...well you would have to buy yarn and needles for the class)
Also check your rec. dept or community centers..Ours offer a few classes.
We even have a church that has an Arts Ministry and has lessons....Of course I found out about it by chance.

thanks Pam!
someone here - I think you and maybe Mara - told me about some LYS in KC but the closest is about an hour from me - but I may convince dh to keep the kiddos one day for a couple hours and do that! It's always easier when you have someone to *show* you!
We do have one LYS that I just found out about - I was told she was rather high price wise but if I can learn to knit it might be worth the trade off!
I need to drive by there - I was told she was only open 2 afternoons a week - I'll put that on my to-do list today!
We're brand new here - I'll have to look up the rec center - hadn't thought about them!
Thanks so much!

The Studio is close --Um, I pm'd you...Let me know what you find out about a LYS up your way...I may have to check it out.
She will have better yarns than what Michaels has....Generally, I think you get what you pay for with yarn. (Though for some things you don't need to spend a lot on the yarn)
I wish my SIL who lived in your town was crafty.....She is creative but not crafty....IYKWIM.
Hey, does MO West do any community outreach classes?

I don't know if MO West has classes or not - that's a good thought to check!
I wonder if they'd have a website that would tell me?

Oh look and see if they offer 'non-credit' classes....
LEt me know if you ever meet any of the Swords (diane, steve, scot, kevin or jessie --jessie is only 3 though .....) (Diane is my dh's sister)

I called MO western institute and they don't have any knitting/crocheting/sewing type classes right now.
She told me to check JoAnn's but our local JoAnns doesn't do any classes - have to go to the superstore ones down in KC - but I might check the one on Barry Rd in North KC cause that is only about 45 min from us.
I have a 3 yr old also! Actually I have a 10, 8, 6, 5, 3 and almost 2 yr old and our dd is due Mother's Day!
