I think it looks good :) We really need to come up with cooler titles. Where do we sign up , btw? I'm sure it's somewhere obvious :LOL

I agree here. Maybe something knitting related or "fluffo"/sheep related????????

That is about as creative as my brain gets at this point in time.

Lil' typo in your title there.

Otherwise, my reaction is that the "higher" levels of membership are oriented towards WAHM's, because they include free advertising. As a non-WAHM, this isn't terribly useful to me, although I might be able to barter it away.

I don't mind in the slightest that this is the case, I guess my main point is that I'd be into a lifetime membership for the free patterns and classes but I don't know what I'd do with banner advertising. So I'd probably shy away from that membership just because I couldn't get full use out of it.

I'm definately up for becoming a member, though. Even if it weren't the right thing to do, you'd definately get your money's worth back with all those discounts.

Hmm. So do you think there should be something equally as appealing for non-wahms in the higher up? So many of our members here are WAHMs or at least want to sell a soaker or two.

And please show me my typo! I dont' see it and you KNOW how I am about those things.

I like the membership benifits...but I'd agree on the Advertising....maybe you could do something like free yarn :need or free soaker (or like $off a soaker, kwim?) so then the WAHMs would have to choose between YARN or Advertising :faint

I also have to agree w/the better names.. :)

Hugs,

You have "priveleges" and it should be "privileges". Actually, it could also be "priviledges" if you like. I know this because I write this word all the time and an editor used to correct me until I pointed out that both spellings were in fact accurate.

I think if you can have a "non WAHM" option (i.e. something else besides banner advertising) at each of the levels that you might get increased support from at least one of your members ;)

Well, I'm not selling yarn right now, so that's out!

What could I offer besides that? Free "name tags" :hmm Not so exciting.
What about the equal cash value as a coupon toward anything in my store? Or just make the banner transferrable so the member can sell it to someone. :hmm

Wonder why microsoft word didn't catch priveleges??

hey now!! :)

I think it's ok as is, maybe non-WAHM members can barter their banner with someone who sells yarn or something. That can be done privately. If you create too many levels, it will become difficult to administer...

By the way, how will you administer it?? ;)

CraftyMommaOf2
10-04-2004, 11:25 AM
I think being able to barter is the way to go. Maybe they could trade it to a mama for the appropriate amount of soakers or whatever. I would leave it as is and add the ability to barter it. JMHO ;)

I think it's great, except I have to admit I would probably not purchase the higher levels because of not being a WAHM myself. I know some have suggested bartering the ad space, but I think it would be safe to assume that a big majority of WAHMs would purchase the package themselves, so who could be barter it too?

If not for that, I would totally be up for one of the higher packages because of the awesome perks! :)

How about:
Fluffo's Friend
Fluffo's Super Friend
Fluffo's Wonderific (or Woolyrific) Friend!

As for the advertising, maybe instead of X mos free advertising, you could offer X% off advertising (maybe for a limited length of time - like 20% off 6 mos or something), OR X% off at the WW Store (maybe 20% off your first/next $100 dollars - usable over multiple "trips", if desired) - anyway, the monetary equivalent.

CraftyMommaOf2

Lovin the fluffo's friends theme! The advertising could be used to barter with WAHMs that aren't currently in our community, too. Lots of moms are willing to trade.

I think it's fine. Most knitting wahm's won't be buying Pam's patterns. And non wahm's won't need to advertise. not true for everyone of course, but i think it would even itself out.

How about stitch markers as a benefit for non WAHM???

pamelamama
10-04-2004, 07:55 PM
Stitch markers are in the drawing in which all members would be entered.. Members get discounts at shops that make stitch markers. All the stitch markers around my house are MINE! I dont sell that either! You guys crack me up.

If we really think the advertising is going to be a stalling point for non-WAHMs we can always leave it off completely? As a mod, I'm not going to get much benefit from the % off patterns, but it's like everything... you can't please everyone so you try to put together a package of items that have something to appeal to everyone. :)

I've looked over the document and have a couple of comments. Unfortunately, I'm at work right now and I left the document at home.

I do remember one thing though: I have already taken a couple of classes. I would love to take more, and want to donate to the site. I posted on your yahoo group awhile back asking whether you were planning on lifetime class pricing, but was probably overlooked. Now that it is here, I wish I...

okay - what am i trying to say? If I had this option before I took your classes, I would be a lifetime member, because it would pay after 3 classes. Since I have already taken two classes, my incentive is gone for the higher levels (although I am still mega-tempted). So maybe a discount for those having already purchased classes individually?

My totally self-interested, but maybe helpful, :two

I'll post the rest when I catch up with my notes tonight after work.

pamelamama
10-05-2004, 04:25 PM
A retroactive lifetime of free classes??

Uh oh Amy, I think I would be paying you in that case ;)

Maybe that lifetime thing is going to get me in trouble.

Okay, from my notes (only one thing left after your changes):

nitpicky - You have membership as "membership" and "member-ship"

Okay, what am I missing? I am so confused.

In your first draft you had a lifetime member as receiving all patterns and classes free, but in this draft it's only 50% off?

Yes, I changed the totally free to fifty percent off. Honestly, I thought so few people woudl choose that option... and when I realized how much I was giving away, I thought it might be detrimental to the business in the long run.

I also added different titles.

Hmm... think that is all. Is it totally undesirable now Karla, in your eyes? With fifty percent instead of all free? Or does it still look good? And does the ability to transfer the ad to someone else seem workable?

It must be difficult to try to gauge that. You are certainly in the best position to do so. Trying to guess whether people who might buy the lifetime membership might buy the patterns and classes if they don't buy the membership.

Only the lifetime membership is now undesireable to me, personally. Lifetime memberships are only good as long as the site is actually in business. Given how often WAHM's close up shop, when you are buying a lifetime membership, you're taking a big risk that the WAHM will be in business during the "lifetime" that you'll want to use it. So I honestly think that bigger give aways are appropriate, because you're asking people to give up a fairly large chunk of dough right away, compared to a one year membership. And while I hope I don't sound like a cheapskate, I don't feel that the decreased benefits are worth the price of a lifetime membership for me as a non-WAHM. I will still become a regular member or a Fluffo's buddy or whatever it is.
