One of dh's professors has a contact in Philly and he wants to know if we'd be interested in a position there. Anybody live there or ever been? What did you think of it? It of course depends on what the offer is, but I need to tell him whether or not to consider it :LOL TIA

OHHH< I live about 20 minutes outside Philly, you and I can knit together (that right there shold be reason enough to move here RIGHT NOW!!!)
But the city is nice so far as cities go, lots of artsy type districts and GREAT yarn shops. The burbs are nice, we live in delaware county and I like it here (although I'd like to move further west nad have more space/less people) Commuting by train is very easy, and there are a fiar amount of whole foods/organic type places. I think I've insulated myself very well from the *mainstream* by only hanging out with my LLL friends, LOL, but the alternative life is definitely there if you want it.

i grew up in the philly area and lived there again after college - until 1996. so far it's the only city (besides NYC) that we would even consider. I love the area, i've lived and worked both in the city and outside of it. i can't say enough good things.

homeschooling is a bit of a PITA, but there are really great homeschool associations around here. if you do a google serch for "Pauline harding" you'll get one of my LLL cohort's website, which is chock full of fabu info on homeschooling here in PA :)

I don't live there now but I grew up, and lived 100 miles north of Philly my entire life and up until 7 years ago ( my family is still there fwiw and we travel home at least twice a year)
I really love the area and its on our list of places to move to if DH were ever to find a teaching position there!
