My SIL is 27 weeks pg and her water broke a couple days ago. She is in the hospital, flat on her back, but it seems the birth is imminent. I feel so helpless, being that she is in AZ and I am in TN. Since I can't even visit her I really want to knit something for my neice. I'm already in the middle of a Big Bad Baby blanket for her, but I want to make something relatively quick - a hat maybe? - that I can send out soon. She doesn't cloth diaper (don't get me started on that one), but any other preemie pattern ideas would be most welcome.

Oh - and if you're so inclined, a prayer for them would be much appreciated. She is a much-wanted, much-hoped-for first child for my BIL/SIL so we're all on pins and needles that everything turns out ok for them all.

I have no preemie patterns, but wanted you to know they're in my prayers.

13 years ago, my sister was born @ 30 weeks. She was just under 3 lbs. Today, she is taller than I am and a smart, vibrant young girl. She did spend the first 10 weeks in the hospital, but was released w/ no complications right around her due date.

I hope things go well for your new niece!

a great resource: http://www.bundlesoflove.org/patterns.htm
a big list http://www.hood.edu/carewear/patterns/generated/knit_list.shtml
some others http://www.oliviasangels.org/patterns.htm
this one has a cute girlie hat http://www.touchinglittlelives.org/knitting.html

One year and 3 months ago my good freind gave birth at 26 weeks she had HELLP so her boy was tiny, little over a pound. and I knitted and sewed a complete wardrobe for him to wear as soon as he was allowed to. Now he's a 15 month old giant doing super.
I am no good at praying but ill keep all my fingers and toes crossed that the baby can stay in a little longer.

Thank you all so much for the thoughts, prayers and patterns. Unfortunately my niece did not make it. My SIL had an emergency C-section today, and the baby died. I don't know any more details than that - my SIL was actually still in surgery when my MIL called, and I'm anxiously awaiting more news. We are all just devastated.

I am a nurse on a high risk OB floor and deal with this sometimes. It is soooo hard. It makes you thankful for what you have.

My prayers are with your family.

Oh, I am so sorry for you all. It is so hard to lose a child; especially one that you've waited to hold for so long.
