View Full Version : Anybody want to start a knit-along?
I don't know what, I just want to knit something different. I'm getting tired of soakers, shorts and pants. :lol
I think I might be more motivated if we do a knit-along.
Are you in? Suggestions?

I'm waiting for some Peace Fleece and I want to knit T's 'Swing Thing'. That might be too close to the spiral sweater to interest anyone though...... Just thought I'd throw it out there. Also... I've never knit socks before and I want to try. That would be a great knit a long for me. :)

I have just the sleeves and embellishment to go on the swing thing...It is a pretty quick knit once you get going on it...and I am making the largest size.
Spiral sweater is next in line...
Well when my PF arrives I will be doing two cool kids hats, but those will only take a couple of hours for me to crank out.

Depends on what the knit is and what yarn I would need. I'm really trying to not buy yarn.

Well, I've got lots that needs done around here, so here are my suggestions:
Swing Thing (need to make one for my DD this year!)
clapotis (I was supposed to have made one for my sister's birthday in June -- oops).
socks (I have maybe an inch done on the first sock for my size HUGE hubby)
Or a cardigan sweater -- I need to find one to make for a friend -- she likes swing thing, but wants something a bit lighter weight that can be worn indoors over more summery outfits to make work for fall/winter. suggestions?

I've been wanting to knit something for myself for a long time. Finding the right pattern and the money to buy the yarn has been my problem.
I really like this (http://www.bluealvarez.com/bluealva/patterns/licoricewhip.html) sweater A LOT.

Llama Jama has a cute Daisy Cardigan pattern http://www.llamajama.com/products/catalog.php?item=76&catid=16&ret=catalog.php%3Fcategory%3D16
I am making one right now for my niece's baby due in November. It's a very simple pattern knit from the top down. It's only my second sweater and I'm having fun knitting it!! I've done the top and just finished the sleeves. :) I am using DB Cashmerino and got guage with size 8 needles just in case the size 4 scares you...... It's looking just the right size too.

That is cute. I might even be persuaded to knit one- even though it would only fit my youngest and I am knitting a Swing thing for her already.

I'd be up for a clapotis. I'm starting the heel on a pair of socks, so I'd do those and give you guys a few days head start too.

i am really excited about it, i haven't made a soaker yet, but i want to do a bag first to get my decreasing techniques down, before i do a soaker, and since this bag is felted, it seems a good project for myself.

i really like that bag, but it looks a bit complicated for me. im still learning "basics" kinda. i've made 4 pair of longies, and thats it, so.. maybe i could read the pattern some more and see if its really as complicated as im making it out to be.

Pretty bags. I have a booga bag (http://www.blacksheepbags.com/booga_bag.html) i started - it's all done except for the straps because I hate i-cord. lol
I just started a KAL for Cigar (http://woolywonder.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12778), if anyone feels like gifting their dh. ;)

I had my DH make me one of these to do i-cord. I have not tried it out yet. The one time I tried i-cord it came out terrible so I'm hoping this works for me.

How about doing a Holiday Gift-a-long? I'm starting up on knitted gifts for teachers, etc and would love to work along with y'all. That way everyone could make what they wanted and we could all get ideas from one another.

I'm interested, but two things...
1. What is "swing thing"?
2. The project would need to be beginner friendly. ;-)

I'm halfway through the Lady Eleanor stole and LOVING it! I think that would make a great knitalong and show off some fabulous colorways!

I just got Scarf Style from my public library and I'm DYING to do Lady Eleanor!!! I'd love to do a knit along for it, but really can't justify starting until after the holidays.
I'd be totally up for a holiday gift knit along. I'm staring at my list of things to do. To knit, or not to knit gifts this year? I need motivation andn inspiration!

Whoa that is gorgeous Pam!
I am working something totally simple and doing my own little touches lol.
A simple beanie hat (not a beanie person here doesn't look like one on my 7 year old so far).

That is really cool, Pam! I love how the pattern covers such a wide range of sizes. I could do a short sleeve version for me and a long sleeve version for my 12yo dd.
