I began knitting as a senior in high school as a stress reliever. I knit and crocheted some sweaters and blankets while talking to my long-distance boyfriend/fiance (now husband) on the phone in college. Then for a year, I taught knitting in my local community ed program. I started making soakers about a month ago after borrowing a couple from a friend. I've used both the LTK and WW patterns and have started experimenting with KoolAid dyeing. I'm thinking about getting the Holy Sheep pattern too, then developing one of my own. I've always been a crafty person, so long as I had a pattern to follow, but trying these soaker patterns is inspiring me to find the best possible approach for my kiddo.

My son is 3 1/2 months old and growing like a madman--he wears 12 mo clothes already (the cloth diapers don't help with finding clothes long enough). He's been cloth diapered since the beginning. My husband figures that knitting my own soakers might be the only way we're really going to save money with this new diapering hobby of mine.

I'm considering selling soakers or other knit items, but I'm not sure I want to put the time into it to make it worthwhile. If I could make just enough to finance my CD habit, it would be worth it for the fun of knitting!
