i've knitted most of 1st glove....not able to get past "join thumb" instructions....where do i put the stitches for the thumb...if i place on left needle the knitting starts in front of thumb. below is the section that confuses me......thanx

Join Thumb
Work one more round, dividing sts between 2 needles, so that they are arranged as they were for the joining round; work ssk over last 2 sts. 17[21, 25] sts on first needle, 16[20, 24] sts on second needle.

Place thumb sts on 2 needles, placing 7[8, 9] sts on each needle.

Continuing with second needle of last round (after ssk), place stitch marker, k first 2 sts of thumb together, k next 5[6, 7] sts of thumb; using another needle, k next 5[6, 7] sts of thumb, ssk, place stitch marker, k first 2 sts of next hand round together, k to end of needle. 44[54, 64] sts.

K the 22[27, 32] sts from next needle onto 2 needles, dividing sts evenly. Place safety pin at this point (center of thumb) to indicate beginning of round.

Where are you? Did you get to this yet:

Join Thumb
Work one more round, dividing sts between 2 needles, so that they are arranged as they were for the joining round; work ssk over last 2 sts. 17[21, 25] sts on first needle, 16[20, 24] sts on second needle.

You follow up to there?

So you have the hand on two needles.

Now you do this>

Place thumb sts on 2 needles, placing 7[8, 9] sts on each needle.

You take the thumb stitches off of the holder where you've been saving them, and you slide them onto two needles. Not the same needles you have the hand on. Two empty needles. :)

So now you have the hand on two needles, and the thumb on two separate needles.

Now you're going to use the yarn tail hanging off the hand and work across the thumb like this:

Continuing with second needle of last round (after ssk), place stitch marker, k first 2 sts of thumb together, k next 5[6, 7] sts of thumb;

using another needle, k next 5[6, 7] sts of thumb, ssk, place stitch marker, k first 2 sts of next hand round together, k to end of needle. 44[54, 64] sts.

and that's the rest of the thumb.

Now you're working across the hand.

K the 22[27, 32] sts from next needle onto 2 needles, dividing sts evenly. Place safety pin at this point (center of thumb) to indicate beginning of round.

Let me know how much of that you can follow. Just try to do it as you go along, dont think too much. ;)

Hi. I'm new to the forums. I found this design on Knitty.com and my boyfriend saw the "Thug Life" picture while I was reading the page and he flipped. "You have GOT to make me those Thug Life gloves". I tried to remind him for a month that I only know how to knit gauge swatches, lol. I finally decided to try them last week and I actually have the glove down all the way up to the thumb.

I'll admit I did everything using the Magic Loop so far (using double points was making my hands cramp up, lol). Now I think I can join the thumb the way the instructions say. I put the glove on two double points, I put the thumb on two double points....and that's where my brain shuts off, lol. I think I might be able to figure it out past starting the join but the join is really giving me problems.

Now you're going to use the yarn tail hanging off the hand and work across the thumb like this:

I'm not sure what "across the thumb" means.

Which sts are considered the "first 2 sts of thumb"? Are they the sts on the needle with the thumb's working yarn tail, or the sts on the other needle?

After I knit all the sts on one thumb needle, how do I move onto the second needle?

Basically I think I'm asking for pictures. If anyone has any pictures of joining the thumb, I'd reeeally appreciate it. I don't want to tell my boyfriend his dreams of "Thuggin'" may end before they begin, lol.

Also I read in another thread that you have a pattern with magic loop notes. Where can I find this pattern?
