a water soluble surgical lubricant jelly to keep the colors from pooling and running?
I am thinking of trying this with surgi-lube http://www.allegromedical.com/urologicals_catheters/lubricants/surgilube_lubricating_jelly_sterile_4_5_oz_tube_bo x_of_12.P193139
I would hope the gums would not alter the colors...

I had some red acid dye that got thicker when you mixed it, and it didn't reduce the running. :(

Yeah, I don't think it would help. The problem is wicking--the wool acts like a straw and draws the dye up :goodgrief

I thought of trying to thicken w/ cornstarch or flour - you know like when you're cooking. Hadn't occured to me to try some, ahem, other things

well I thought it would be easier to work with if it had the consistency of Wiltons paste...
anyone else think so too? I might just be looney :nut
