What has worked for you?

I love the felted tweed, it makes a light lovely pair of gloves that is surprisingly warm. But if you can't get that... try... ??

I did mine with our dk weight BFL. The only problem with that is that it's not machine washable... but they're heavenly soft. ;)

Would peace fleece work or cascade 220?

Here's the gauge info:

GAUGE
26 sts/36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, worked in the round

I think PF is too heavy. 220, can you get that gauge?

In case anyone else was nutty enough to try it, Cotton-Ease is not that great for Knucks. It's too bulky. Of course, I did it anyway.

I'm currently working on a pair in fixation for myself. Theyr'e going nicely but taking much longer, of course. ;)

I can't believe you used size 2 needles for cotton ease. Very cute Knucks though :)

Oh, the size 2 was only for the cuffs though.

has anyone tried using bfl worsted weight? Also, is it bad to gift someone a pair with wool that cant be machine washed?

I think Nada used the BFL in the DK weight!

I made some in a yummy wool bamboo blend from Classic Elite Yarns. They are an orange/salmon color and warm, soft, and delicious!

LOVE THIS PATTERN!

I'm a beginner knitter. I taught myself using books and knittinghelp.com

I went to a yarn store the other day and bought the yarn that the pattern called for. $22 they charged me! Now don't get me wrong, the yarn was great and really soft. Problem is I knew I wasn't going to get these knucks finished my first try and I didn't want to waste such nice (expensive) yarn. So for fun I decided to practice knitting them using Simply Soft that I got at Walmart. I was almost positive the glove were going to come out all wrong but to my surprise it ended up being perfect! The gauge is exact.

Now if I could only figure out how to finish the glove, lol. :D

Just thought I'd pop on here. I used cascade 220 for mine. They are too thick and snug. I did get gauge but because it's so much thicker they fit really tight. So I'm thinking when I can get some rowan I will make myself another pair and pass these on to my DD. :)

The rowan is really hands down the most delightful thing I've tried -- the felted tweed.

Okay I have a question... I cant find Rowan where I live so I bought Patons SWS, It is medium weight and the gauge is 17s & 21r with US 9 needles...

will this work?

Thanks for the great pattern! It will be my first time with dpns!

Okay, I replied once before but something must have messed up...
So I will ask again! lol

Well, I cant find Rowan yarn anywhere here so I bought Patons SWS. Im kind of new to patterns and am not sure if it will work... This is what the tag says...

Medium 4 and the gauge is 17s by 21r with US9 needles, 4x4 in. and its 80 g/ 2.8 oz 110 yds

Will that work? Will it be enough?
:yarn:yarn:yarn
I didnt want to start on it in case I had to take it back...:D

Thanks for the awesome pattern!!!:)

Hi, you used Caron Simply soft and got the gauge? What size needle did you use? I have a ton of it! It may be cheap, but it's soft and "smooth" on the needles. I find it easy to work with by hand and on my knitting machines. Many opportunities for cool knuks if I can get the gauge.
Thanks

Knucks can really be knit in any yarn, just rewrite to the new gauge for the correct size. If you don't know how to do this, show the pattern and the yarn you want to use to an experienced knitter and they'll show you how to do the knitter math. I've done mine in everything from Jo Sharp Silk Road Aran Tweed and Araucania Nature Wool Chunky to my handspun sock yarns.

I just finished my first knuck and I used Moda-Dea's Sassy Stripes in Swish. It is a self-striping acrylic yarn that is machine washable but you have to let it air dry. Can't find my stupid camera right now but when I do I will put up a pic.
