My DS is a crawler so I had a great idea... to add knee pads to his longies. I wanted to be able to remove them once he started walking. Well, I didn't have the best result. I got one knee pad sewn on and it looked funky so I removed it. I have thought about doing this again on a pair of pants that I wouldn't subject him to wear in public.

I also finished a pair of pants and the rise was too short in the back so I had the bright idea to increase the rise. Well, I thought I would just tear out the first row (the cast ON row) and add a few rows in the back. I didn't take into account that you don't cast on the way you cast off (at least I don't) so I ended up with a holey mess. The pants were pretty much flawless and my first project so I felt so bad that I had messed them up. But I guess you live and learn.

I don't think this is the right forum... but I wasn't sure were this should go. I wanted to warn people so they would know what they would be in for if they tried either of these.

awesome! I made just regular knee pads than can be slid on and off over anything, knit pants or if babe is just wearing a dipe for shorts, just on the knee. They have drawtrings at top and bottom of each so they can fit over pants or not.

That is a great idea! I never thought about making knee pads but not totally stitching them to the pants. Just weaving them into the pants and tieing them (like with a draw string) would work well and keep them in place. DS is walking now so it is no longer an issue. I have also learned how to add to the rise the correct way, but I haven't had the guts to try it yet. ;)
