I think the Brits write patterns differently sometimes, so I want to double-check this before I screw up my work.
The pattern calls for "dec2". WOuld you knit THREE together for that?

This is how I interpret it...
Because you turn three stitches on the left needle into one stitch on the right needle. 3 minus 1 equals 2 stitches decreased. :D

I read it as needing to decrease the stitch count by two.

I think your right, knit three together. I've done a Rowan pattern too.... the way the patterns are worded is so funny!! I had to read and re-read a few times. Though I'm sure they think the same about our patterns!! :)
Hmm, I'd say just work two decreases. If they wanted you to knit 3 together I think it would still say that, I think it's just assumed you're a capable enough knitter to not need telling what kind of decrease to work.

hmmm...
it's a lace pattern, and they do call for k2tog earlier in the chart. but in this row, it's "dec2". So, Ruth, you may be right. Let me play with the pattern on different needles and see what happens.

I agree with Ruth, I would work 2 decreases.

update:
after googling for pictures of this project in people's blogs and comparing to my swatches, i conclude that "dec2" means k3tog. :)
